Now that I’ve made a conscious decision to be the best Brian I can be rather than making excuses and just floating by on skill, one of the major things I’m focusing on is flawless technique. I’m not gonna get into my whole ‘perfect practice makes perfect’ schpeel, but it’s important to me to learn it correctly from the start. This is one of the few times I’m working from a blank slate because I have never really formally worked out or followed traditional structure. In that regard, I’m an empty cup and look excitedly to the future. In most other things I’ve already had enough exposure to already begun to develop bad habits. So I can honestly say that thanks to Carl’s fantastic ability to break things down, I’ve become ever aware of my form all the times. When I run to the hydrant, I’m thinking about proper posture, making sure my foot rises and falls in line with my leg, and the balls of my feet always make first balance contact (this is just one specific example that occurs as with every other technical progression). Coupled with my obsessive nature and attention to detail, I’m confident that I’ll pass into my later athletic years and make them my athletic prime!
